Dhamra Port turns a hit at MSME Trade Fair in Angul

At the ongoing MSME Trade Fair at Nalco Exhibition Ground in the industrial town of Angul, the exhibition stall put up by the recently inaugurated Dhamra Port has caught the attention of the people visiting the trade fair. The three day long MSME Trade fair inaugurated on Monday (9th January 2012) at Nalco Exhibition Ground in the industrial town of Angul, has witnessed participation of all major corporate and industrial houses of the state of Odisha including PSUs like Nalco, MCL, NTPC, Paradip Port and Corporate Houses like Tata Steel, Dhamra Port etc. However, the exhibition stall put up by Dhamra Port has generated good response and excitement among the visiting public, who have been thronging the stall to have a glance of the newly constructed deep sea modern port. On the inaugural day, Mr. T Ramachandru, IAS, Principal Secretary, Dept. of Industries, Govt. of Odisha visited the DPCL exhibition stall at the trade fair and appreciated the showcasing of various facilities and the world class infrastructure at Dhamra Port. It may be noted that Dhamra Port was inaugurated last month by the Chief Minister of Odisha Shri Naveen Patnaik as the 2nd biggest all weather port of the state.
Dhamra Port holds first interschool Kite flying competition

: The first interschool kite flying competition was organised by the Dhamra Port at Muni ground, Karanjmal, 12 kms ahead of the port. Around 60 students from 10 periphery high schools participated in this unique competition. In this interschool kite flying competition, a Class IX student from Panchutikri Grampanchayat High School Mr. Subarna Keshari Nayak became the winner, followed by Mr. Akshay Majhi of S.S.Nigamananda High School of Sasikadeipur and Mr. Abhay Kumar Majhi of Jagula Grampanchayat High School in the 2nd and 3rd place respectively. The competition was organised on the occasion of 63rd Republic Day celebrations. Drawing and painting completion for the students was also organised by the company on this occasion, in which Mr. Biplab Mallick of Chardia High School emerged as the winner while Mr. Darshan Ojha of Trust High School, Jasipur came in the 2nd place and Mr. Dyuta Kumar Mahanta of Dosinga High School in the third place. Hundreds of villagers, students and company officials were present on this occasion to encourage the participants. In its consistent efforts in promoting extracurricular talents among the students of the schools as part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities of the Company, similar competitions like Quiz, debate, drawing etc have been organised regularly in the periphery GPs of the Dhamra Port.
First NCC Ocean Sailing Expedition from Dhamra Port

The first Ocean Sailing Expedition by NCC Cadets of Odisha kick started from Dhamra Port on Monday morning, in which 30 naval cadets are covering a distance of 400 kms off the Odisha coast, sailing in the Bay of Bengal. So far the NCC sailing exercises were restricted to rivers only. The 10-day Expedition is scheduled to conclude at Gopalpur beach on February 15 with halts at Pentha and Jambhu in Kendrapara district, Paradeep and Siali in Jagatsinghpur district, Astarang, Konark, Puri Town and Chilka Mouth in Puri district, and Prayagi in Ganjam district. During their halts, the cadets will interact with the local population and see various places of importance. The sailing expedition is being conducted under the supervision of NCC Group Headquarters, Cuttack and aegis of NCC Directorate, Odisha. A Five-day training session of the cadets and other requirements for the expedition were facilitated by Dhamra Port Company Ltd (DPCL) inside the port premises. District Magistrate and Collector of Bhadrak, Shri Akshay Kumar Pani flagged off two Naval whaler boats engaged in the sailing expedition from the Dhamra Port jetty at around 9 am on Monday. Deputy Director General of NCC, Odisha Commoder BK Patnaik, Director NCC Odisha Col. Hafiz Khan, Assistant Director (Training) Col. AVR Rao and Harbour Master of DPCL Capt. Mirza Baig were present on the occasion among others. Commander PK Nayak, Commanding Officer of 3rd Naval NCC Unit, Cuttack is heading the sailing expedition team which includes 10 girl cadets selected from various prominent colleges of the state. DPCL spokesperson Himansu S. Sahoo informed that in order to create awareness among students and teachers of Dhamra Port periphery area schools about NCC and the historic ocean sailing expedition, an interaction programme with NCC cadets and their commanding officers was arranged at the port jetty. Around 100 NCC, Scout and Guide and Junior Red Cross cadets from local schools participated in the interaction programme and witnessed the flag off ceremony of the first such expedition by NCC Odisha.
MSME Vendor Development Programme at Dhamra Port

A plant level vendor development programme was organised on Tuesday at Dhamra Port, jointly by MSME, Cuttack, Govt. of India, Dhamra Port Company Ltd. (DPCL) and Industries Dept., Govt. of Odisha. Around 100 small and medium entrepreneurs from all over the state attended the programme which was aimed at facilitating business opportunities to the local entrepreneurs. Vice President (Operation & Maintenance), DPCL, Prem Sinha inaugurated the programme in which Mr. Alok Ray, Director of MSME, Cuttack, Mr. P C Nayak, Chief Manager (Odisha) of National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), Mr. Sanatan Nayak, GM, DIC - Bhadrak and Mr. A K Nayak, GM, DIC - Balasore were present among others. While from vendor side, Mr. G V R Naidu, Asst. Director from MSME coordinated the programme, the Corporate Communication and CSR Head of Dhamra Port Himansu Sekhar Sahoo coordinated on behalf of DPCL and its various subsidiaries, outsourced agencies and O&M contractors as the mother plant. Representatives from various local industries of Bhadrak and Balasore, mainly in the field of ceramics, fabrications, machine tools, fly ash brick manufacturing, polymer, interiors, electrical etc. participated. Representatives from DPCL outsourced companies like TMILL, Unirail, PSM and TM Harbour etc. informed the vendors about various product requirements of the port and explained how the small and medium entrepreneurs of Odisha cam avail business tie-ups with their units. Port site visit was also organised by DPCL for the vendors, wherein they were given an opportunity for firsthand and on-site information regarding various requirements of the port.
